No idea. You're guess is as good as mine.

I am not hearing from him either. Seems he's very busy with freelance work which seems to be more lucrative than working on Arles.

Just too few paying customers.

A shame just the same.

The fact is that Arles has not really evolved over the years. Bug fixes are not what I call product evolution, which stopped a long time ago. That's where the shame lies. Unfortunately, presentation features were quite limited and belonged to another era. The absence of flash support is one example among many. Pity!
Regardless, I think that Jan should have issued a public statement. It's just a matter of expressing respect for his customers.
My condoleances to all Arles amigos!

I cannot agree more.

However in Jan's defense, (and this will be the only time i mention this) if it came down to feeding your family or getting a good living doing freelance, what would you choose? Say you would not do the same ???

That said, i have already mailed Jan with that same message. (about your statement). No reply. He is just too busy with the freelance work.

But Arles mail seems to have ultra low priority these days. See the quote above.
Sorry peeps, i am just a mod to keep spam at bay, i have no say as to policy/direction.

In my opinion, if Jan made the last (windows) version bullet proof (which it is'nt, payed customers would have a version they could work with and not worry about problems from this last version of windows.

Just my personal opinion. And thus does not reflect this websites policies/directives.

If it came down to having to abandon a product for whatever the reason, I would have chosen to let my intentions known publicly in this forum and let my customers know where I stand. Arles is now a defunct software, period. It's not the first product to go down this route and it won't be the last. It's just a matter of respect. In conclusion and in answer to your question: No, I would NOT have been silent and disappear from the radar. Would YOU? :-/

I´m not sure about that, but it depends on Jans commitments.

However if Jan considers Arles defunct, he should say so.

But as far as you are concerned, a product is more important than feeding ones family?

But i don´t care to rationalize Jan´s decisions. That is really not up to me.

You know the email address to Jan directly, easily found with a simple search.

a) I never said that, please stop your redundant fishing on this matter.
b) Why should I care to email Jan? I have no more time to waste on this matter, nor shall I expect further development of this outdated product.
I have spoken my mind, over and out!
